Our Values
Our values guide how we work, how we treat one another, and how we serve our communities. Rooted in Respect, Commitment, Pioneering, and Sharing, they shape our culture, inform our decisions, and unite us in building lasting impact—together.
A shared culture serving the whole community
Colas shares the founding values of the Bouygues Group, underpinning our corporate culture and driving everything we do.
Respect
Respect, treat others how you would like to be treated
Respect is THE absolute foundation of everything. Without it, there is no trust, no team, no future. At Colas, we care about and consider everyone - our clients, teams, colleagues and stakeholders. We champion transparency and honesty, and we stick to our word. It is the key to a collective that moves forward together, with high standards and consideration.
Commitment
Commitment is about giving your heart and soul
When we commit, it is a collective pact and an investment in everyone's success. At Colas, you don't succeed alone. We invest in our customers, our teams, and our colleagues, and with our ethical approach and total transparency, we know we can count on our people and partners. This collective energy allows us to go further, to overcome any challenge, and deliver our exceptionally high standards. We commit 100% and we commit together.
Pioneering
Bold innovation, not blind ambition
At Colas, we push boundaries, imagine what does not yet exist, and dare what others do not.
It is about analyzing, preparing, calculating risks and pre-empting challenges before taking on the adventure. We innovate with ambition, and we find solutions. Great pioneers are not those who just take a leap of faith and hope for the best, they form their vision and ambition based on intelligence, expertise and boldness.
Sharing
Knowledge and experience are meant to be passed on
At Colas, we don't believe in well-kept secrets. Each of us holds knowledge that could and should be shared. We see sharing and guidance as fundamental in helping us all grow. This also ensures that we do not rely solely on a few experts but on a strong collective. We pass on our knowledge so that we can achieve the best of ourselves and others.
A CULTURE OF SAFETY
At Colaska, we take great pride in our culture of safety – Goal Zero. Throughout our national and international network, we have developed a collection of attitudes, beliefs, and behaviors that influence how we work and how we determine safety performance.
Throughout our organization, each subsidiary has the same dedication to the safety culture-improvement journey. What is important is we all remain committed to the same goal – preventing serious injuries and fatalities everywhere. We have worked together to maintain a safe work environment and culture that keeps all of our workers, contractors, and the general public safe.
There is no job so important, or service so urgent, that we cannot take the time to work safely. Our safety processes have been refined so our employees and their families can have peace of mind that they will do great work, safely. Together, we can achieve Goal Zero.
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) isn’t just a buzzword:
On issues ranging from social cohesion to climate change, preserving resources and biodiversity, improving living conditions, and more, the Colas Group’s stakeholders - first and foremost our employees - have high expectations and are very motivated to reach them.
Colas’ response is rooted in our people-focused culture, combined with our core values of respect, pioneering, commitment and sharing, as well as our close ties with local communities in the regions where we operate.
Our Approach
Colaska's approach to corporate social responsibility is based on the dual conviction that its businesses help fulfill essential needs and aspirations, and that they must be conducted in a responsible manner. Colaska has to take into account the expectations and contradictions of contemporary society, including social cohesion, climate change, biodiversity loss, preserving resources, transportation and housing needs, improving living conditions, energy transition, resource management and rising expectations with regard to ethics.
Our social responsibility approach seeks to foster a deep and lasting culture of continuous improvement in the field, across all construction business and production units in all the regions where we operate.
Commitment 1:
To offer our customers and users solutions that meet the challenges of sustainable development.
Environmental, climatic and societal challenges, as well as changes in usage, bring both constraints and opportunities for Colas. Thus, the Group develops offers and services related to the challenges of sustainable development. Its ambition is to imagine and propose the responsible infrastructures of tomorrow (safe, sustainable, accessible, shared, connected), at the service of users, and for the opening up and economic and social development of territories.
Commitment 2:
Implement a low-carbon and biodiversity strategy to contribute to the respect of the planet
Faced with the climate emergency, in 2020 Colas embarked on a strategic review that led it to announce an ambitious target to reduce its emissions by 30% on scope 1 and 2 emissions and 46.5% on scope 3A emissions, compatible with the Paris Agreement. In December 2020, Colas built a low-carbon roadmap based on five axes.
Through its activities, Colas has strong interactions with biodiversity. The Group is also committed to a biodiversity strategy aimed at developing and promoting ecological niches, as well as preserving emblematic species
Commitment 3:
Promoting our circular economy solutions to preserve natural resources.
As one of the world’s leading recyclers, Colas recovers and recycles waste and materials from deconstruction on its recycling and recovery platforms and in its infrastructure sites. Colas offers its customers circular economy solutions, with its network of recovery platforms and its solutions for recycling materials, reusing them or extending the life of infrastructure. In this way, it contributes to the preservation of natural resources.
Commitment 4:
Reducing the impact of our activities to strengthen their acceptability.
Colas strives to reduce the impact on local residents and users of its construction materials production and construction activities. The objective is to develop and share solutions aimed at improving processes and promoting the acceptability of sites and construction sites.
Commitment 5:
Attracting, developing and retaining talent through managerial excellence.
One of the challenges of Colas’ corporate social responsibility is to attract and recruit the talent of tomorrow. To do this, the Group offers working conditions that ensure health, safety and well-being, while promoting diversity, inclusion and the development of everyone’s employability and career.
Commitment 6:
A health and safety culture shared by all.
Health and safety are major issues for Colas. Reducing health risks and accidents in the workplace or on the road benefits not only employees but also users, local residents, partners, etc. Colas’ objective is to consolidate a global health and safety culture.
Commitment 7:
Building a responsible supply chain anchored in sustainable performance.
Colas’ purchases account for more than 60% of the company’s turnover. Our actions to meet CSR challenges must therefore be extended to our partners, suppliers and subcontractors. In this way, Colas is working with them to build a responsible supply chain based on sustainable performance.
Commitment 8:
Consolidating an exemplary culture of ethics and compliance.
Acts or complicity in corruption represent major economic and financial risks as well as reputational risks for the company. Ensuring that Colas employees and third parties work within the framework of business ethics is essential to the Group’s values. Colas strengthens its compliance culture by identifying risks of corruption and human rights violations, communicating on ethics and compliance rules, and implementing controls to ensure compliance with ethics and compliance processes.
Our 6S Commitment
At Colaska, safety, organization, and continuous improvement are built into how we operate every day. To support these values, we follow the Colas 6S system, a proven, safety‑first approach to creating efficient, well‑organized, and sustainable workplaces.
The 6S system helps our teams maintain safer work environments, reduce waste, improve efficiency, and uphold consistent standards across our operations, from plants and shops to offices and project sites.
