Cooper Landing Bypass
Activity: Roads & Highways, Civil Engineering Structures
Location: Cooper Landing Bypass – Sterling Highway, Alaska, USA

Details of Works: Upgrading of two existing access roads and construction of a new highway alignment through Juneau Creek Canyon. The project includes the 928-foot Juneau Creek Bridge, which will be the longest fully erected and launched bridge in the United States. QAP is leading major excavation works, moving more than 5 million cubic yards of material while optimizing reuse across project phases to minimize waste and eliminate the need for offsite material hauling. Colaska subsidiary Southeast Roadbuilders is a subcontractor of this project and is performing all of the blasting and shooting necessary. Additional works include wildlife crossings—featuring Alaska’s first wildlife overpass—along with undercrossings, retaining walls, slope stabilization, and erosion control to protect surrounding wilderness areas. The project is being delivered through a collaborative approach to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and optimize design outcomes.
