Seward Hwy MP 17-22.5
Activity: Roads & Highways, Civil Engineering Structures
Location: Seward Highway MP 17–22.5, Alaska, USA
Project duration: Multi-year project
Project Year: 2023
Details of Works: Rehabilitation and reconstruction of a critical section of the Seward Highway, including bridge replacement, roadway widening, and safety improvements along a steep, coastal corridor. QAP performed large-scale excavation, moving approximately 807,000 cubic yards of material, including significant rock excavation requiring specialized drilling and blasting. Additional work included construction of passing lanes, drainage improvements, and installation of soil stabilization measures, totaling approximately 16,000 square yards, to reinforce slopes and protect the roadway. Due to terrain constraints and proximity to traffic, drilling and blasting operations were carefully controlled. QAP also established a dedicated staging yard to support construction and efficiently manage materials on-site.
