Details of Works: Reconstruction of Neck Lake Road to improve access, drainage, fish passage, and roadway safety in a remote area of Prince of Wales Island. SERB completed drilling and blasting, excavation, embankment construction, culvert installation, and roadway grading operations. The project included approximately 104,000 cubic yards of excavation, 7,000 cubic yards of roadway revetment, 12,000 tons of road surface aggregate, 27 drainage culverts, and six simulated stream culverts to support fish passage. Extensive environmental protection measures were also implemented, including more than $500,000 in erosion control consisting of silt fencing, fiber rolls, and floating turbidity curtains to protect Neck Lake and the surrounding ecosystem. Construction was completed under closed-road conditions while maintaining access for emergency services.
